How To Install Windows 7 Step-By-Step

Turn on your computer, insert the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive, and then Shut down your computer.
Restart your computer.
Press any key( eg: F1, esc ) when prompted, and then follow below steps.



Step 1 - Select your language, time & currency format, keyboard or input method and click Next.

Step 2 - Click Install now.

Step 3 - Tick on I accept license terms, then click next to continue.

Step 4 - Click Upgrade if you already have a previous Windows version or Custom (advanced) if you don’t have a previous Windows version or want to install a fresh copy of Windows 7.

Step 5 - Choose where you would like to install Windows 7. If you have one hard drive you will get a similar option to the image below. You can click next to continue. If you have more that one drive or partition then you need to select the appropriate drive and click next. If you need to format or partition a drive then click Drive options (advance) before clicking next.

Step 6 - It will now start installing Windows 7  and starts copying all the necessary files to your hard drive as shown on the image below.

Step 7 - After that it will automatically restart after 15 seconds and continue the setup. You can also click Restart now to restart without any delays.

Step 8 - When your PC reboots it attempts to boot from DVD as its the first boot device. Do not press any key during the boot prompt so Windows 7 will continue with the installation by booting from the hard drive.

Step 9  - Type your desired user name in the text-box and click Next. It will automatically fill up the computer name.

Step 10 - If you want to set a password, type it in the text-boxes and click Next.

Step 11 - Type your product key in the text-box and click Next. You can also skip this step and simply click Next if you want to type the product key later. Windows will run only for 30 days if you do that.

Step 12 - Select your desired option for Windows Updates.

Step 13 - Review your time and date settings. Select your time zone, correct the date and time and click next to continue.

Step 14 - Select your computer's current location. If you are a home user then choose Home network otherwise select the appropriate option.

Step 25 - Finally check you have successfully activated Windows 7.
