How to Reduce Video Size

1. Open Windows Movie Maker. Movie Maker is an application included with Windows for editing and creating videos. It provides a simple way to reduce the file size of any video file.

2. Import your video file into Movie Maker. In the left panel (entitled "Movie Tasks"), look under the "Capture Video" heading for an option that reads, "Import video." Click on this option, and then navigate to the location on your hard drive where the video file is stored. Double-click on the file to open it into Movie Maker.

3. Place the video clip into the Movie Maker timeline. In the right panel (entitled "Collection"), you will see an entry for your video file. To make it part of the Movie Maker project, you will need to place it into the timeline. Click on your video's entry and drag it down into the timeline at the bottom of the window.

4. Open the "Save Movie" wizard. Under the heading reading "Finish Movie," click on the option that reads "Save to my computer."

5. Select the desired file size for the finished video file. In the "Save Movie" wizard, enter a file name, chose a place to save your video and click "Next". Then click "Show more choices" and select "Best fit to file size." In the box to the right of this option, specify the size you want the final video to be. Click "Next" and then "Finish" to save the video file on your computer.
